The Kathy Tepas Memorial Training Fund

Kathy Tepas received her initial search dog training from WVK9SAR where she certified her dog Molly. Kathy and Molly moved to Ohio and formed the Ohio K9 Search Team (OHK9) in 1991. OHK9 was the first organized search dog team in Ohio. Through her training and leadership, OHK9 grew to a maximum of 17 members. She helped OHK9 network and build working relationships with various law enforcement agencies across Ohio. OHK9 received over 250 callouts and responded to searches throughout Ohio. In 2006 OHK9 became an international team responding to a search request in Canada.

Kathy passed away in 2002 leaving a legacy of dedication to K9SAR and a deep devotion and love for dogs. It is with deep emotion that OHK9 continues to honor her life by donating the funds from The Kathy Tepas Training Fund to the team that started her search career – WVK9SAR.

A LEGACY OF DEDICATION LIVES ON… In honor and respect for Kathy and OHK9, WVK9SAR has created The Kathy Tepas Memorial Training Fund to reimburse WVK9SAR team members for training and education that improves their ability to locate lost and missing persons.
